This state of-the-art SSB/FM amplifier is compatible with most hand-held transceivers. The amplifier RF power output is typically 2 watts with 250 milliwatts input and 30 watts output with 2 watts input. The circuitry for this amplifier was designed and tested by Motorola as described in their Application Note AN791. The circuitry is protected against reverse polarity of the input DC voltage. The input VSWR is normally 1.2:1 to 1.5:1. The circuit is protected against high SWR and can withstand an open or shorted output without damage. The output of the amplifier incorporates a stub-tuned lowpass filter to reduce the output harmonics to meet FCC specifications.
